Admission to Mt. Helix Academy is based on an entrance assessment that includes an evaluation of the prospective student’s academic and social skills as well as an interview with her/his parents.  In what must necessarily be a brief period, we nevertheless endeavor to ensure that the school and the parents are of a common mind concerning the prospective student’s education and that the school is likely to be able to provide the prospective student with an effective educational program, one leading to an enjoyment associated with learning and high academic achievement.

If you know Mt. Helix Academy and its success
If you know us already, we encourage you to fill out the on-line Application for Student Assessment. Of course, in lieu of the on-line option, you may download the PDF version, fill it out, and forward it by FAX or mail. We will then contact you to make an appointment for the assessment. Note that the assessment incurs a non-refundable fee that must be paid at the time of assessment.

In order to understand first hand why Mt. Helix Academy is so unique and so successful, you must tour the school.  Arrange a classroom tour by contacting Alison Young, Assistant Director, or by completing the Online Application for Student Assessment Form and we will contact you.

Enrollment
Once we have had a chance to speak with you and to evaluate your child, and we all agree that Mt. Helix Academy is the ideal school for your child, we will need to sign the Statement of Mutual Commitment, the essentials of which appear in the document you may access above. Then, you will be given your family’s access code so that you can complete and submit the on-line Enrollment Forms and remit your non-refundable Tuition Deposit. In lieu of submitting the on-line forms, you may choose to print out the pdf version of the forms and submit them by fax or mail.

Please note that the deadline for submitting the completed Enrollment Forms and paying the Deposit is May 1 prior to the enrollment year.

Mt. Helix Academy organizes several events that you may wish to attend to introduce you to our school, our faculty, and our extensive program. Watch for the announcement of these events on this website in the News & Notes section and in the school’s Calendar.

Before finalizing enrollment, and to be certain that parents, child, and school are in common agreement concerning the child’s enrollment in Mt. Helix Academy, all parties will agree to and sign a Statement of Mutual Commitment. Reprinted here is not the form itself, but the commitment statement to which all parties will agree.

Statement of Mt. Helix Academy’s commitment
Mt. Helix Academy agrees to provide the child with a quality education, which includes all of the following:
1. teaching skills and knowledge that will benefit the child as well as benefiting society;
2. using evidence-based methods to teach in the most efficient and effective manner available;
3. teaching in a manner that is as free of coercion and punishment as possible;
4. teaching by teachers who accept the responsibility for implementing effective education; and
5. communicating regularly with the child’s parents regarding the child’s education in a manner that praises progress and seeks to solve positively problems associated with unacceptable behavior or rates of learning.

Statement of parents’ commitment
We agree to provide our child the necessary assistance and positive encouragement concerning her/his education. We will respect school policy as it relates to our child and his/her classmates, and we agree to support the staff, administration, and program of Mt. Helix Academy. We will undertake a positive and productive dialogue with the school when raising, learning about, and/or jointly resolving any issue.

I will follow my teacher’s directions.
