Mt. Helix Academy students go all out in their 2013 jog-a-thon, Jog-for-the-Arts.

On Thursday, February 7th, Mt. Helix Academy’s students, parents, and staff donned their running clothes and participated in our 6th annual Jog-a-thon, “Jog for the Arts”. This year’s Jog-a-thon was coordinated by Patty and Kevin McCormick, parents of Isabella in Grade 2, and was a huge success. Our goal of raising $15,000 was exceeded with a little over $32,000 raised at this year’s Jog-a-thon!

When asked, “What was the best part of this year’s Jog-a-thon?”, some of our student responses were: “I loved running with my friends!”; “I couldn’t wait for the Jog-a-thon to start….I was so excited!”; “The Jog-a-thon was lots of fun…I love to run”.

Our Jog-a-thon awards assembly was held on Tuesday, February 26th in which students were recognized for the greatest number of laps ran by grade, greatest number of laps ran by module, and the top fundraisers. The two students who ran the most number of laps were: Nicolas F-Grade 2 and Natasha J.-Grade 6. The ten top fundraisers are: Natasha J. (6th grade), Ryan O. (1st grade), Hunter M. (6th grade); Isabella M. (2nd grade), Jasper B. (1st grade), William K. (4th grade), Samee K. (Kindergarten), Nicolas F. (2nd grade), Wil L. (4th grade), Tristan W. (4th grade).

We would like to thank the students who participated, those who helped organize and work at this year’s Jog-a-thon, especially the McCormick and Fahme families, as well as all of the generous sponsors who made this year’s Jog-a-thon such a winning event.
