1st Graders Learn About Helping Others From Fireman

During their Social Studies unit this past trimester, our 1st graders have been identifying ways that they help others everyday, at home, at school and in the community. It has also been important for the students to identify how helping others make them feel.

On Monday, October 29, the class was visited by Fireman and Paramedic Gualberto Garibay! He told the students how he helps others by rescuing them from dangerous fires, or by helping them if they aren’t feeling well. Fireman Garibay showed the students his fire protection gear complete with mask and his breathing apparatus! The students were astounded by how heavy all of his safety equipment is- 30 pounds! We are so lucky to have brave, kind, and friendly firemen like Mr. Garibay to help us if we ever have an emergency!
